Reginald Nugent was formerly the Senior Advisor to the Jamaica Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, with responsibility for policy oversight and strategic planning. Mr. Nugent also served as Chair of the Minister’s Technical Task Force, which brings together senior professionals to contribute to thought leadership and serves as a forum for the discussion of critical policy issues. Prior to joining the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, he was the Head of the School of Business Administration at the University of Technology, Jamaica, with responsibility for academic leadership and the School’s administrative operations.

Mr. Nugent brings over 30 years of experience in executive management, financial planning and management, strategic planning, and entrepreneurship. He was a founding Managing Director for Capital West Advisors, a business plan development and capital raising firm based in Beverly Hills California. He held the position of Adjunct Faculty and Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Cal Poly Pomona, College of Business Administration, California for 4 years, with responsibility for developing programs to foster entrepreneurship and new venture development in the business community.

In 1996, he co-founded Isadra, Inc., an Internet-based software company launched in the Silicon Valley, which was successfully acquired by Vertical Net, Inc. in 1999 for $50 million. Prior to Isadra, he worked as a financial management and public finance professional working for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, CA for 7 years, and for two San Francisco Bay area municipalities for two years.

Mr. Nugent completed all required coursework for his PhD in applied economics at Stanford University. He also holds Master Degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics and the University of the West Indies, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of West Indies.
